Lucknow: In a major operation in Meerut, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested two members of an interstate gang that defrauded candidates under the guise of recruiting them into the Indian Army. The gang was extorting large sums of money from young people by promising them Agniveer recruitment in the Army.

The STF received information that Naresh Kumar, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, along with his associate Sachin Kumar, would be visiting the Army Hospital, Meerut Cantt, under the pretext of providing medical assistance to candidates. Acting on the information, the STF team laid a siege and apprehended the two men near the Army Hospital at around 4 pm on 18 September.

Accused Identified

The arrested accused have been identified as Naresh Kumar and Sachin Kumar. Naresh Kumar, son of Jile Singh, originally hails from Patti Chauthaai Bitwada, Police Station Budhana, Muzaffarnagar. Sachin Kumar, son of Suresh Pal, is a resident of Kakra village in the Shahpur police station area of ​​Muzaffarnagar district. Both men had been defrauding young people for a long time by promising them recruitment into the Indian Army.

Recovered Documents

The STF recovered several fraudulent and suspicious documents from the arrested accused. These included two color photocopies of Indian Army recruitment admit cards, a mark sheet, two handwritten pages related to candidates, and two fake rubber stamps in the Army's name.

In addition, the team recovered two mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and the Alto car (number UP 12 AQ 7905) used in the fraud. These evidences clearly indicate that the accused were systematically deceiving young people and engaging in fraudulent recruitment activities.

Role of Special Task Force (STF)

This operation was carried out by a team from the STF Field Unit, Meerut, under the direction of Additional Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Singh. The team included Sub-Inspector Arun Kumar Nigam, Sub-Inspector Pramod Kumar, and several head constables.

Case Registered

A case has been registered against the two arrested accused at Sadar Bazar Police Station, Meerut, under various sections of the IPC. Police are currently interrogating the accused and conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
