A major interstate liquor smuggling operation has been busted in Uttar Pradesh. STF seized 13,812 bottles of foreign liquor and arrested one handler at a toll plaza late night. The accused exposed a network linked to Bihar raising questions on how deep this racket runs.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has achieved a major breakthrough by arresting a member of an interstate liquor smuggling syndicate. The accused was held with 13,812 bottles of foreign liquor being transported illegally for sale across the state.
According to the official press note issued on December 4, 2025, the STF had received continuous intelligence regarding the illegal supply of prohibited liquor into various districts of Uttar Pradesh, particularly from Bihar where liquor is banned.
Acting on the information, multiple units and field teams of the STF were directed to initiate surveillance and launch action accordingly. The arrested accused has been identified as Sushil Kumar, son of Jagdish Ram, resident of village Navadia Suyal, P.S. Suya, Tehsil Tulsipur, District Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh.

During the operation on 3 December 2025 at 10:35 PM, the STF team intercepted a vehicle at Toll Plaza Sitapur Road under BKT police station limits in Lucknow district. Upon inspection, a massive haul of foreign branded liquor was recovered.
The seized material includes:
2052 bottles of Royal Stag Barrel Select Whiskey
7488 bottles of Old Habbit Whiskey (PET)
3840 bottles of All Seasons Golden Collection Reserve Whiskey (PET)
432 bottles of Black by Bacardi Rum
Additionally, one pick-up truck (PB65 AH3597), one mobile phone, one DL, and ₹5,700 cash were confiscated from the possession of the accused.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that his gang specializes in smuggling liquor from Punjab and Haryana to Bihar. Due to prohibition in Bihar, they reroute the consignments through Uttar Pradesh with the objective of large-scale distribution. Shipments are covertly moved across borders and supplied district-wise through associates.

He further stated that this particular consignment had been arranged by Dilli Dewar, a resident of Purnia, Bihar. The consignment was meant for illegal covert supply in various districts of Bihar after routing through UP.
An FIR under relevant IPC sections 61(2)/328(4) of Excise Act & 60/63/72 BNSS has been registered at Police Station BKT, Lucknow. Further legal proceedings and investigative action are underway.
The STF has stated that raids will continue as more names are expected to surface in the ongoing crackdown on interstate liquor syndicates.
