UP woman dies in Nepal as rioters set hotel on fire amid Gen-Z Protest

Lucknow: Ramveer Singh Gola (58), a resident of Master Colony in Nandgram police station area of ​​Ghaziabad, went to visit Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu with his wife Rajesh Gola (55) on September 7.

After visiting Lord Pashupatinath, the couple stayed in a room on the fourth floor of Hyatt Residency in Kathmandu. At around 11:30 pm, the rioters set the hotel on fire.

When the hotel was surrounded by fire, the couple tried to save their lives by jumping from the fourth floor. The couple fell on the mattresses laid by the rescue team.

During this time, the rioters attacked again. In this, the couple got separated. On Wednesday, Ramveer Singh's son Vishal received a call from Nepal that his mother Rajesh Devi died during treatment.

Ramveer Singh Gola, who was caught in the riot, was found in a relief camp two days later in an injured condition. The body of Rajesh Gola will be brought to his residence in Master Colony, Ghaziabad by tomorrow.

The protests started on September 8 in Kathmandu and other major cities after the government blocked major social media platforms. As many as 19 people were wounded and several others injured when the police open fired at the demonstrators. The agitation escalated quickly and protestors barged into Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli's office on Tuesday demanding his resignation and revocation of the ban on social media platforms, which considered as an attempt to suppress freedom of speech and a violation of fundamental right.
