Kolkata: At least nine people were killed in a head-on-collision between a heavily loaded truck and a small vehicle in West Bengal's Purulia district bordering Jharkhand on Friday morning, officials said.
Police said the victims, who were returning in a Bolero from a wedding party, were from the neighbouring Jharkhand's Nimdi area.
The accident occurred in the early morning at Namsole on the Purulia-Jamshedpur National Highway when the victims were returning home from a wedding party.
The victims were yet to be identified.
Police said all the occupants of the small car were presumed dead after being involved in the head-on collision with the 18-wheel truck, which also turned turtle.
The bodies were sent for postmortem.

The local official said that the accident took place in Bagnan area at around 7.30 am, when a collision took place between the bus and the lorry.
