Patna: The new government in Bihar has taken shape. On Thursday, Nitish Kumar and his cabinet colleagues took the oath of office and secrecy in the presence of PM Narendra Modi at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. All but one member of the newly formed Council of Ministers includes individuals with degrees ranging from 12th to engineering.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar holds a degree in electrical engineering from Bihar College of Engineering (now NIT Patna). Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha holds a diploma in civil engineering from Begusarai Polytechnic College, while Deepak Prakash holds a B.Tech in computer science from Manipal University. Only one minister in the Council of Ministers, Narayan Prasad, passed the matriculation examination from Bettiah in 1972.

Samrat holds an honorary doctorate
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary holds an honorary doctorate in the newly formed Council of Ministers. Four ministers have earned PhD degrees under higher education. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal earned his PhD from BNM University, Madhepura. Ashok Choudhary, Santosh Kumar Suman, and Dr. Pramod Kumar also hold PhD degrees.

Four ministers with postgraduate degrees and seven with graduate education
The cabinet includes four ministers with postgraduate qualifications and seven with graduate education. The postgraduate ministers include Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Sunil Kumar, Arun Shankar Prasad, and Shreyasi Singh. The graduate ministers include Mangal Pandey, Madan Sahni, Ramkripal Yadav, Sanjay Singh Tiger, Lakhendra Kumar Roshan, Sanjay Kumar, and Sanjay Kumar Singh.

Six have previously served as ministers
Seven ministers in the state cabinet have completed their 12th standard. These include Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shravan Kumar, Leshi Singh, Nitin Naveen, Jama Khan, Surendra Mehta, and Rama Nishad. Of these, Rama Nishad became an MLA for the first time and was also appointed a minister, while the remaining six ministers have previously served in the state government.
