Hollywood star John Krasinski reveals why Indian films like dhurandhar are inspiring the world

John Krasinski has praised Indian cinema’s growing global impact and revealed he wants to watch Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster spy thriller Dhurandhar, calling Indian filmmaking “cutting-edge” and inspiring.

New Delhi: Hollywood actor John Krasinski has expressed admiration for Indian cinema and revealed that he is eager to watch Dhurandhar, the blockbuster spy-action franchise led by Ranveer Singh.

Speaking during a recent interview, the The Office star said filmmakers around the world are increasingly impressed by the creativity and scale of Indian films. Although Krasinski admitted he has not watched Dhurandhar yet, he praised the evolving landscape of Indian filmmaking.

“I haven’t seen the film yet, but some of the most cutting-edge moviemaking is coming from India right now,” he said. “Many filmmaker friends of mine are constantly amazed by the films being produced there.”

The actor also shared his enthusiasm for discovering new cinema from different cultures. “I love watching anything. It’s always inspiring to see what everyone else is doing,” he added.

‘Dhurandhar’ emerges as a global box office force

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has grown into one of India’s biggest action franchises in recent years. The first installment released in December 2025 and became a massive commercial success worldwide. Its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, continued the momentum after arriving in theatres earlier this year.

The franchise features a star-studded cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Sara Arjun among others.

According to the reported figures, the first film earned more than Rs 1,300 crore globally, while the sequel has crossed Rs 1,790 crore at the worldwide box office, cementing the franchise’s status as a major international success.

OTT release plans announced

While Dhurandhar: The Revenge is currently streaming internationally on Netflix, Indian viewers will be able to watch the film on JioHotstar from June 4.

Meanwhile, Krasinski was recently seen in Fountain of Youth alongside Natalie Portman.
