New Delhi: Actor Ram Kapoor has made a candid revelation about his personal life, admitting that he had "countless" affairs before marrying fellow actor Gautami Kapoor. Speaking on the reality show Lock Upp 2, the television star described himself as a "playboy" during his younger years and said his life changed completely after marriage.
His remarks came during a conversation with fellow contestant Shreya Kalra, where he reflected on his past relationships and the transformation he underwent after tying the knot with Gautami.
Recalling the days leading up to his wedding, Ram said producer Ektaa Kapoor had expressed concern about Gautami marrying him because of his reputation.
According to the actor, Ektaa personally warned Gautami, telling her that he had been involved in numerous relationships before marriage. Ram said the concern was justified, admitting that he was "that man" at the time.
Describing himself as a playboy, he acknowledged that his past image had prompted Ektaa to look out for her friend.
When asked whether he had ever been unfaithful after getting married, Ram gave a clear answer.
He said he had not had "even a single affair" after marrying Gautami Kapoor, while adding that he could not even count the number of relationships he had before marriage. The actor credited marriage with bringing stability and commitment into his life.
Ram Kapoor and Gautami Kapoor first met while working on the television serial Ghar Ek Mandir in 2000. Their friendship soon developed into a relationship, and the couple married in 2003. They have two children and are regarded as one of television's most enduring celebrity couples.
Ram's candid remarks have sparked discussion online, with many viewers praising him for openly acknowledging his past while emphasising that he remained committed to his marriage. His comments have once again put the spotlight on one of television's most popular couples and their long-standing relationship.
