Dipika expressed admiration for its scale and presentation
New Delhi: Veteran actor Dipika Chikhlia, best known for portraying Sita in the iconic television series Ramayan, has shared her reaction to the teaser of Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana. The teaser, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, has sparked widespread discussion, especially among fans of the original series.
Speaking about the teaser, Dipika expressed admiration for its scale and presentation. She described it as “very grand” and visually rich, adding that the makers have done a commendable job. She also said she is now looking forward to watching the film, calling it “beautiful” and well-made.

Dipika’s recent comments reflect a shift from her earlier stance on retelling the epic. In a previous interview in 2024, she had expressed strong reservations about repeated adaptations of the Ramayana. She had said that filmmakers often try to introduce new interpretations, which, in her view, risks distorting the essence of the original narrative.
She had also criticised recent mythological adaptations, indicating her concern over how the epic is being presented to modern audiences. Her current response, however, suggests a more open outlook after seeing the teaser.
Dipika became a household name in the late 1980s when Ramayan aired on Doordarshan. Her portrayal of Sita was widely appreciated for its grace and authenticity. The show featured a memorable cast and continues to hold a special place in Indian television history.
