Mumbai: Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed the Rs 317-crore mark in worldwide gross collections within three days of its theatrical release, delivering a strong performance at the box office. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action drama witnessed a renewed surge in collections on October 17, after recording a dip on its second day.
According to box-office tracking figures, the film’s worldwide gross collection reached approximately Rs 317.15 crore by the end of its third day, while its net earnings in India stood at Rs 144.60 crore. The film’s growing international collections have contributed significantly to its overall total.
The film recorded an estimated India net collection of Rs 47.80 crore on Saturday, marking a considerable improvement over Friday’s earnings of Rs 37.10 crore. Its opening day collection stood at Rs 59.70 crore, taking the cumulative domestic net total to Rs 144.60 crore by the end of the first three days.
The Saturday uptick indicates that the film continued to draw audiences through its opening weekend, with the Tamil version accounting for the largest share of domestic collections.
The Tamil-language version remained the principal contributor to the film’s box-office performance on Day 3, earning an estimated Rs 34.60 crore net in India. The Telugu version added approximately Rs 8.50 crore, while the Hindi version collected around Rs 4.25 crore. The Kannada version contributed an estimated Rs 45 lakh.
These figures underline the film’s strong base in its primary Tamil-speaking market, alongside collections from other language versions.
Overseas Earnings Push Worldwide Total Past Rs 300 Crore
International markets have played a substantial role in the film’s early commercial performance. Jailer 2 earned an estimated Rs 47.50 crore in overseas gross collections on its third day, taking its cumulative overseas gross to approximately Rs 147.50 crore.
Combined with domestic earnings, the film’s worldwide gross reached Rs 317.15 crore within its first three days in theatres. The milestone places the Rajinikanth-starrer among the major box-office performers of the year so far.
The sequel continues the story of Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer played by Rajinikanth, and expands the scale of the action surrounding his character. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Vidya Balan, S J Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Ramya Krishnan and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar also appear in the film, alongside other notable appearances.
With its strong opening and a rise in domestic collections on Saturday, the film enters the remainder of its opening weekend with considerable box-office momentum. Its performance on Sunday will be closely watched to assess whether it can sustain the pace and add further to its worldwide total.
