AVM Saravanan Passes Away in Chennai
Chennai: Renowned Tamil film producer AVM Saravanan passed away on Thursday morning in Chennai. He was 86 years old and had been battling age-related illnesses for some time. His death came just a day after his 86th birthday (3 December).
Saravanan's funeral will be held at the AVM Studios premises. His body will be kept on the third floor of the studio to allow family, close friends, members of the film fraternity, and the general public to pay their last respects. The family announced that the cremation will take place at 3:30 PM.
Saravanan's death has sent shockwaves through the Tamil film industry. Several production houses cancelled their day's schedules as a mark of respect. Many actors and producers arrived at AVM Studios to pay tribute to him, acknowledging his contributions and impact on the film industry.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was among the first to express his condolences. He wrote on his social media (X) handle that he was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of AVM Saravanan. He recalled his contributions to Tamil cinema, stating that AVM Studios played a significant role in shaping the direction of Tamil cinema.
The Chief Minister wrote that Saravanan and his father AVM "Appachi" had a close relationship with his family and prominent figures like Dr. Anna, Kalaignar Karunanidhi, and Murasoli Maran. He added that Saravanan's simplicity and gentle nature made him beloved by all.

Stalin shared that when he visited the AVM Heritage Museum in May 2023, Saravanan shared his experiences and memories. He said that his simplicity, humility, and contributions to the film industry are unforgettable.
AVM Saravanan produced Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi films, working with superstars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Many films directed by him were released in theaters under the AVM Productions banner and were box office hits.
Saravanan received the Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Sigaram Award from the Government of Puducherry. Through his hard work and dedication in the film industry, he became a source of inspiration for many generations.
