New Delhi: Actor Neha Dhupia has opened up about an early experience in the entertainment industry that deeply impacted her confidence and self-image for several years.

Speaking on the show Double Date, which she hosts with husband Angad Bedi, Neha recalled how a casting director’s harsh comment about her smile stayed with her long after she entered the spotlight.

A Comment That Stayed For Years

During a candid conversation with guests Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem, Neha shared that the incident took place when she was new to the industry and attending an audition for a television show.

Recalling the moment, she said the casting director told her not to smile because it did not suit her face and claimed she looked more powerful without it. The statement, according to Neha, deeply affected her confidence and changed the way she presented herself publicly.

The actor revealed that even after winning the Miss India title, she consciously avoided smiling in photographs because the remark had stayed with her for years.

Confidence Took Time To Return

Neha admitted that it took nearly eight to ten years for her to fully recover from the emotional impact of the comment. She also spoke about the emotional setback she experienced after not winning the Miss Universe pageant, saying the phase shook her confidence further.

Her revelation highlighted the pressure and unrealistic beauty expectations often faced by actors and models at the beginning of their careers.

Huma Qureshi Opens Up On Trolling

Actor Huma Qureshi also shared her own struggles during the conversation. She revealed that social media trolling after her second film affected her mental health and pushed her into isolation.
