Washington: Early voter surveys point to widespread dissatisfaction with the state of the nation, economic conditions and US President Donald Trump’s performance as Americans cast their ballots in the crucial midterm elections.

Preliminary findings from CNN’s Voter Poll suggest that voters are increasingly unhappy with the country’s direction, the economy and Trump’s leadership, reflecting growing concerns over his administration’s performance.

Early results from NBC News’ Exit Poll indicate that a significant number of voters may have turned out to oppose Trump, blaming him for persistently high prices and what they view as a weakening economy.

Cost of living, corruption dominate voter concerns

The Associated Press’ (AP) Voter Poll found that the rising cost of living and government corruption were among the biggest concerns for voters. The survey also highlighted widespread dissatisfaction with the president.

Meanwhile, a CBS News exit poll placed Trump’s approval rating at 38 per cent, reportedly the lowest recorded for a US president during a midterm election in the 20 years since the network began conducting such surveys.
