New Delhi: Fresh speculation over Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s health has intensified after an Israeli media report claimed that he is in an extremely critical condition and has been hospitalised.

Israeli outlet Channel 14, citing sources allegedly linked to Iran, reported that Khamenei’s condition had deteriorated significantly. The report also referred to claims from IranWire, which cited sources said to be close to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration.

IranWire Claims Senior Leadership Worried

According to IranWire’s report, sources close to the Iranian government claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei has not held meetings with cabinet members since the February attack on the Supreme Leader’s compound, in which his father and other family members were reportedly killed.

The sources claimed that discussions about his health condition were circulating among senior officials in Tehran. One source reportedly suggested that his death announcement could come soon, though these claims have not been independently verified.

Tehran Rejects Reports On Supreme Leader’s Condition

Iranian authorities have repeatedly dismissed reports questioning Khamenei’s health and ability to lead the country. Officials have maintained that injuries suffered during the reported attack were not life-threatening.

President Masoud Pezeshkian recently acknowledged difficulties in communicating with the Supreme Leader but described his presence as a source of strength for the government.

Absence Fuels Speculation Amid Iran-Israel Tensions

Mojtaba Khamenei has remained away from public appearances since assuming the leadership role following his father’s death. Official statements attributed to him have mostly been released through Iranian state media, without live public addresses.

The lack of visible appearances has fuelled speculation among regional observers, especially amid ongoing tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States. While reports about his health continue to circulate, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding any serious medical condition.
