Washington: In a sharp political attack, former US Vice President Kamala Harris has accused US President Donald Trump of being influenced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in escalating tensions with Iran.

Speaking at an event in Detroit, Harris claimed the military action does not reflect the will of the American public and instead serves political interests.

Claims of ‘Distraction’ From Domestic Issues

Harris alleged that the operation, referred to as “Operation Epic Fury,” was being used to divert attention from domestic controversies, including those linked to the Epstein case.

She described the move as a calculated attempt to shift focus away from internal political challenges. In her remarks, Harris called the current administration “corrupt, callous and incompetent,” intensifying her criticism of Trump’s leadership.

Concerns Over Foreign Policy Direction

The former Vice President questioned Trump’s approach to international relations, arguing that reliance on military action signals a shift away from established US foreign policy traditions.

Harris said the administration appears to prioritise displays of strength over diplomatic engagement, which she believes could have long-term consequences for global stability.

She further claimed that such decisions undermine the credibility of the United States on the world stage.

‘Global Trust Has Been Weakened’

Harris warned that under Trump’s leadership, international trust in the US has eroded. She argued that the country has moved away from its traditional role of maintaining alliances and upholding global norms.

According to her, this shift has made the US appear less reliable to its partners and weakened its influence in global affairs. She also criticised what she described as a disregard for principles such as sovereignty and territorial integrity.
