New Delhi: Vedanta Group founder and chairman Anil Agarwal has spoken about his vision of giving Indian art, culture and music a bigger international platform through London's historic Riverside Studios, now known as Anil Agarwal Riverside Studios.
In a Facebook post, Agarwal recalled his first visit to the iconic cultural venue on the banks of the River Thames and explained why taking over the institution was an opportunity to preserve its artistic heritage while creating new opportunities for Indian artists.
"I still remember the moment when I first saw Riverside Studios on the banks of the Thames in London," Agarwal wrote, describing it as a historic building that carries a century of art, music and creativity.
Riverside Studios has a remarkable history, having hosted some of the biggest names in music and entertainment. Agarwal highlighted its association with legendary musicians such as The Beatles and David Bowie, while also recalling the role played by the BBC in bringing news to audiences across the world from the venue.
"When we were entrusted with Riverside Studios, now known as Anil Agarwal Riverside Studios, I felt it was a wonderful opportunity to bring Indian art to an international platform," he said.

For Agarwal, the association goes beyond acquiring or managing a historic property. He sees it as an opportunity to preserve an institution's legacy and build something that can serve future generations.
Drawing a parallel with his approach to business, Agarwal said institution-building and creating a lasting legacy have always been important to him.
"Just as business, for me, is about creating a legacy and building institutions, embracing this centre for the arts is a unique opportunity to preserve its artistic legacy," he said.

He also underlined the significance of the initiative for India's 1.4 billion people and the nearly two million Indians living in London. The aim, he said, is to give people an opportunity to reconnect with their roots through Indian art, culture and music.
The initiative could also provide Indian performers and cultural organisations with a platform to reach international audiences, while strengthening cultural connections between India and the UK.
Agarwal said Riverside Studios has increasingly become a meeting point for artistic heritage and contemporary creativity.
"Today, this studio has become a meeting point of the heritage of the past and the art of the future. The studio's growing bookings and outstanding performances have brought this place back to life!" he wrote.

He also invited artists and organisers interested in hosting cultural programmes or performances at the venue to get in touch through artists\@riversidestudios.co.uk.
Concluding his message, Agarwal reflected on how a single decision can create opportunities for many others.
"Sometimes, your first step can give wings to the dreams of many. For me, that is the greatest joy of embracing Riverside Studios," he said.
