Bangladesh police have claimed that two key suspects in the Hadi murder case have fled to India with local assistance. According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the accused crossed the border through the Haluaghat route and entered Meghalaya.

Dhaka: Amidst the ongoing violence in Bangladesh, a major development has emerged in the Osman Hadi murder case. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has claimed that two main suspects in this sensational case have crossed the border and fled to India. According to the police, both accused illegally entered the Indian state of Meghalaya with the help of local contacts. This development has further aggravated the already tense situation in Bangladesh.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner S.N. Nazrul Islam informed that the accused, Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh, have crossed the Bangladesh-India border. Preliminary investigations revealed that both entered India through the Haluaghat border. Police claim that they received assistance from a local network in crossing the border.
According to a report in the Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star, after reaching India, the two accused were first received by a person named Purti. A taxi driver named Sami then transported them to Tura city in Meghalaya.

The DMP Additional Commissioner also stated that the police have received unofficial information that Purti and the taxi driver Sami, who helped the accused in India, have been taken into custody by Indian authorities. However, there has been no official statement from India regarding this.
The Bangladesh police say that they are in constant contact with Indian agencies and are trying to expedite the extradition process at both formal and informal levels so that the accused can be brought back to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
It is worth noting that on December 12, Osman Hadi, a student leader of the Inqilab Manch, was shot in Dhaka. He was taken to Singapore for treatment in critical condition, where he died on December 18. Following Hadi's death, widespread protests erupted in Bangladesh, which turned violent in several places. This incident further fueled political and social tensions, particularly among youth organizations and student groups, who expressed widespread anger.

Following the Hadi murder, several incidents of violence have been reported in various parts of Bangladesh. Protests, vandalism, and clashes have been reported from Dhaka to Chittagong. During this period, the lynching of a Hindu man in Chittagong also raised international concerns.
In addition, Mohammad Mutalib Sikdar, a leader of the recently formed National Citizen Party (NCP), was also subjected to a life-threatening attack. He was shot and sustained serious head injuries in the attack in Khulna. He is currently hospitalized and his condition is reported to be critical.
