New Delhi: Benjamin Netanyahu shared a video on Sunday showing himself drinking coffee and chatting with an aide, after Iranian state media circulated rumours claiming he had been killed or injured.

The video was posted on his twitter account and filmed at a cafe on the outskirts of Jerusalem. In the clip, his aide asks him about the rumours spreading online.

Responding humorously, Netanyahu made a wordplay on the Hebrew slang meaning of “dead,” which can also imply being extremely fond of something. “I’m crazy about coffee. And you know what? I’m crazy about my people,” he said while reaching for a cup of coffee, reports Dnamite News correspondent.

Video Verified by Media

According to reports, the video’s location was verified by matching the café’s interiors with previously available images. The timing was also confirmed through photos and videos posted by the café showing Netanyahu’s visit on Sunday.

The video appears to be aimed at countering speculation circulating on Iranian media and social networks.

Tensions Continue Amid Ongoing War

The rumours emerged amid the ongoing conflict involving Israel, Iran and the United States, which began after military strikes on Iran on February 28.

Since the start of the war, Netanyahu has visited several locations affected by missile attacks, including towns hit by Iranian missiles, a hospital, a port and military bases.

Limited Media Access During War

Despite these visits, there has been limited access for journalists. Most videos and updates have been released directly by the Israeli Prime Minister’s office.

Netanyahu, who rarely speaks to the Israeli press, recently held his first press conference since the war began through a video link.

Strict Safety Restrictions in Israel

The war has also led to strict emergency measures across Israel. Authorities have banned large public gatherings and advised citizens to stay close to shelters or safe rooms.

Schools remain closed across most parts of the country as the security situation continues.
