India, Israel sign bilateral investment treaty; Know about it

New Delhi: India and Israel have signed a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), which will help boost investments between the two countries. The Finance Ministry gave this information on Monday.

"The Government of India and the Government of Israel signed the Bilateral Investment Agreement #BIT in New Delhi today," the Finance Ministry said in a post on X.

The agreement was signed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her Israeli counterpart Bezalel Smotrich.

During April 2000 to June 2025, India has received foreign direct investment (FDI) of US$ 337.77 million from Israel. The signing of this agreement is also important as the two countries are also negotiating a free trade agreement.
