New Delhi: Amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian Army delivered a decisive response to Pakistan in Operation Sindoor in May.

In this military operation, the Indian Armed Forces not only targeted Pakistani terrorist bases but also destroyed several key air bases. Director General of Army Staff (DGMO), Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, recently provided detailed information at an international conference in New Delhi.

Pakistani Response Failed

According to the DGMO, Pakistan's retaliatory military action failed completely. Pakistan attempted to retaliate with drone strikes and rocket launches, but the Indian Army's robust air defense system thwarted all these attempts.

Lieutenant General Ghai stated that the Indian Air Force acted with vigilance, closely monitoring the enemy's movements, and launched timely counterattacks.

India's Major Retaliatory Action

When Pakistan deployed drones into Indian territory, the Indian Army immediately swung into action and launched a major military operation on the night of May 8th and 9th. The Indian Air Force targeted 11 Pakistani airbases.

Operation Sindoor sends strong message to Pakistan

Of these, eight airbases, three hangars, and four radars were severely damaged. Additionally, a C-130-class transport aircraft, an AEW (Airborne Early Warning) system, and approximately four to five fighter jets were destroyed.

The Indian Navy was also prepared

The DGMO stated that the Indian Navy played an active role in this entire operation. The Navy had strengthened its position in the Arabian Sea, and if Pakistan had escalated the war, a strong response would have been delivered from the sea.

This was a strategic situation that is not widely known. The situation was also controlled on the diplomatic front.

Following these attacks, the DGMOs of both countries held talks and agreed to end the hostilities. This demonstrates that India, while maintaining military dominance, also managed to balance the situation diplomatically.

Reason for the Attack

The backdrop of this entire operation was the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which targeted innocent civilians and security forces. To respond, India launched precision strikes against terrorist bases in PoJK (Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir) and Pakistan.

Operation Sindoor not only demonstrates India's military capability and strategic preparedness, but also proves that India is now fully prepared to respond to any provocation—whether from land, air, or sea.

The DGMO's remarks made it clear that India's defense system is not only defensive but can also be aggressive and decisive when necessary.
