Indian-flagged ship attacked off Oman coast
New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday confirmed that all Indian crew members on board an Indian-flagged ship attacked off the coast of Oman on Wednesday are safe.
In a statement, the MEA strongly condemned the attack, calling it “unacceptable” and stressing that targeting commercial shipping and endangering innocent crew members should be avoided. The ministry also underscored the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in international waters.
Meanwhile, in regional developments, the United Arab Emirates denied reports of a recent visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, refuting claims of a secret meeting with the UAE President or receiving any Israeli military delegation.
Separately, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, speaking in New Delhi, said that while Iran has historically provided free services to ensure safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz, it is now working on a protocol to include a financial component for navigation safety in the Persian Gulf region.
