A tragic shooting in the US has left four people dead after an Indian-origin man allegedly killed his wife and three relatives during a domestic dispute in Georgia. The accused, Vijay Kumar, has been arrested and faces multiple murder and assault charges.
Domestic Dispute Turns Fatal as Four Shot Dead in Atlanta Home
Washington: An Indian man in the United States shot and killed his wife and three of her relatives following a domestic dispute. The incident occurred near Atlanta, Georgia, and sent shockwaves through the area. Police have identified the accused as 51-year-old Vijay Kumar, who has been arrested. The children present at the time of the incident managed to escape by hiding in a closet.
According to police, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Friday. Police received reports of a shooting in the Brook Ivy Court area. Upon arriving, police found the bodies of four adults inside the home, all suffering from gunshot wounds. All were pronounced dead at the scene. Police reported that the accused's vehicle was still parked in the driveway, prompting a search operation in the area with the help of a K-9 dog squad.

During the search operation, police dogs tracked the accused, Vijay Kumar, to a nearby wooded area. He was subsequently taken into custody and police began questioning. Initial investigations indicate the incident is purely a domestic dispute.
Gwinnett County police identified the deceased as Vijay Kumar's wife, Meemu Dogra (43), a resident of Atlanta, and their relatives, Gaurav Kumar (33), Nidhi Chander (37), and Harish Chander (38), all of Lawrenceville.
The three children present in the home at the time of the horrific incident managed to hide in a closet and escape. According to police, Vijay Kumar and Meemu Dogra's 12-year-old child called 911 to report the incident, enabling a swift police response. All children are safe and have been placed in the care of a family member.

The Indian Mission in Atlanta expressed deep condolences over the incident. The Mission stated in a social media post that it is providing all possible assistance to the bereaved family.
Vijay Kumar has been charged with four counts of felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children. Further investigation is underway.
