Ottawa: Canadian security agencies have arrested 24-year-old Nicholas Singh, an Indian-origin criminal on the country's top 25 most wanted list, in Toronto. The accused was wanted on several serious criminal charges and had a Canada-wide warrant issued against him. According to police, Singh had previous convictions for parole violations and possession of prohibited weapons.

Singh faced serious charges:

According to officials, the accused has previously been convicted of crimes including firearms possession, armed robbery, and possession of prohibited weapons. He was sentenced to five years, five months, and ten days in prison, but had absconded while on parole. For this reason, he was added to Canada's most wanted list.

Toronto police stated after the arrest that this action was important to curb the increasing gang-related crime in the city. Officials stated that Singh's capture with weapons and bullets indicated that he may have been preparing for a major crime.
