US-Iran Tensions Escalate as Tehran Rejects 48-Hour Ultimatum
Tehran: Tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate. Iran has strongly rejected the 48-hour ultimatum issued by US President Donald Trump. General Ali Abdullahi, who heads the Iranian military's central command, "Khatam al-Anbiya," described Trump's statement as "helpless, panicked, and foolish." He clearly stated that Iran will not be cowed by such threats.
Indeed, Trump had warned that if Iran does not reach a deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the US could launch a major attack on Iran's vital infrastructure. He wrote on his social media platforms that if a decision is not made in time, Iran could face devastation.

This statement comes at a time when, just days ago, Trump had postponed the attack on Iranian energy facilities for 10 days and described the talks as positive. However, this sudden change in stance has further exacerbated the situation.
Meanwhile, Iran has made another serious allegation. According to Iran, the US and Israel have attacked its nuclear infrastructure. This attack is said to have taken place near the Bushehr nuclear plant.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote a letter to the UN Secretary-General, stating that such attacks could increase the risk of radioactive contamination throughout the region, which is extremely dangerous to human life and the environment.
However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has currently provided some relief. According to the agency, no increase in radiation levels has been recorded so far. Despite this, the situation is considered extremely sensitive.
According to reports, a security guard near the plant was killed and some buildings were damaged. However, the main plant is safe and power generation has not been affected.
IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi has expressed deep concern over this incident. He stated that attacking nuclear plants or their surroundings is extremely dangerous, as it could increase the risk of a major nuclear accident. He appealed to all parties to exercise restraint and de-escalate tensions.
The growing tension between Iran and the United States is no longer limited to just two countries. The news of the attack near the nuclear plant has raised new concerns about security in the entire region. If the situation worsens, it could have global repercussions.
