Baghdad: An organisation identifying itself as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed it announced a $10 million reward for anyone who kills US President Donald Trump.

The announcement was circulated through channels linked to the group, but its authenticity has not been independently verified. There has been no official response from the White House or US security agencies so far.

Group Links Threat to 2020 Drone Strike

In its statement, the group accused Trump of responsibility for the deaths of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, who were killed in a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport in January 2020.

The message opened with a Quranic verse referring to Qisas (legal retribution) before alleging that Trump had continued to target the legacy of the two slain commanders. It claimed that the group's campaign of retaliation would continue.

$10 Million Reward Announced

The statement declared a $10 million bounty on Trump, describing him as responsible for the deaths of Iraqis, resistance leaders, children and religious scholars. It further warned that he would "receive nothing except humiliation" and vowed to continue confronting what it called aggression against Iraq and its allies.

The claims remain unverified, and there is no independent evidence that the group has the capability to carry out such a threat.

Soleimani's Death Still Fuels Regional Tensions

The January 2020 US airstrike that killed Soleimani, then commander of Iran's Quds Force, and al Muhandis marked one of the most significant flashpoints in US-Iran relations. Since then, several Iran-backed militias operating in Iraq have repeatedly issued threats against American personnel and interests, often citing the strike as justification.

No Official US Reaction Yet

At the time of publication, neither the White House nor US law enforcement agencies had publicly responded to the latest claim. Security agencies typically monitor public threats against current or former US presidents closely, while investigators assess the credibility and origin of such statements. The group's announcement remains unverified.
