New Delhi: India's Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, while addressing the students at the 22nd convocation ceremony of Pune-based Symbiosis International University, shared important views on the changing global politics and economy.

He said that the balance of power in the world is changing rapidly, and now there is no longer just one power center at the global level, but many influential centers have emerged.

Now no one country is omnipotent

Jaishankar said in clear words that today's world has become multipolar. No matter how powerful a country is, it cannot impose its will on every issue. Economic, political, and strategic power is now divided into many parts. In such a situation, the role of cooperation, dialogue, and balance has become more important than ever.

Diplomacy lessons from Indian texts

Giving examples of Indian culture and epics, the Foreign Minister said that we often see Mahabharata as a story of power and struggle and consider Ramayana as an emotional story, but there is a deep diplomatic understanding hidden in both.

He said that when he was asked who the greatest diplomat in history was, his answer was Lord Krishna and Hanuman. Krishna was the great diplomat of Mahabharata, while Hanuman was of Ramayana.

Lord Hanuman: Perfect example of diplomacy

Referring to the incident of Lord Hanuman going to Sri Lanka, Jaishankar said that he was sent there to gather information. He not only reached Mother Sita but also boosted her morale and obtained necessary information. Jaishankar said that if we do not present such characters on the global stage, it would be an injustice to our culture.

Perspective on neighboring countries and global partnerships

The External Affairs Minister also talked about India's relations with neighboring countries. He said that Europe is an important partner of India and there is a need to further strengthen relations there.

Referring to the neighboring countries, he said that they are small in size but deeply connected with India. India becomes a big issue in their domestic politics, so ups and downs in relations are natural.

India first helps in crisis

Citing the example of India's “neighborhood first” policy, Jaishankar said that during the recent cyclone in Sri Lanka, India provided help on the same day. During the Corona epidemic, India provided vaccines to neighboring countries.

Even during the Ukraine war, India helped the needy. He said that this reflects India's global responsibility and humanitarian approach.
