New Delhi: Former captain and former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to the 1992 World Cup victory, is currently imprisoned, and serious concerns are being raised about his health. According to reports, he has been imprisoned in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since his arrest in 2023. Fourteen former cricket captains from around the world have expressed concern over his condition and appealed to the Pakistani government for humane treatment.

Initiative by Legends, Including Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar

Several international legends, including legendary Indian cricketers Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar, jointly wrote an email to the Pakistani government expressing deep concern about Imran Khan's condition in prison. The former captains recalled that Imran Khan was a major star not only in Pakistan but also in world cricket, and that Pakistan won the 1992 World Cup under his leadership.

The legends stated that reports of his prolonged imprisonment and deteriorating health are concerning, and that he should be treated according to international standards.

Three Key Demands of Former Captains

The former captains have placed three key demands before the Pakistan government.

First, Imran Khan should be immediately provided with improved medical care and be allowed to receive treatment from specialist doctors.

Second, he should be treated with humane and dignity in prison and be allowed to meet with family and friends.

Third, he should be given a full opportunity to defend himself through a fair, transparent, and just legal process.

The purpose of these demands is stated to be to ensure the protection of his rights on humanitarian grounds rather than through any political interference.
