Kuwait Airport Targeted (Image Internet)
New Delhi: Flight operations were temporarily suspended at a major airport in Kuwait after drone strikes hit the passenger terminal, according to defence officials. Emergency teams were immediately deployed to the site following the incident.
Kuwait’s Defence Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi confirmed that the drones targeted the airport’s passenger facility. The Associated Press reported that authorities halted all operations as a precaution while assessing the situation and securing the area.
Following the attack, emergency response units rushed to the airport to contain the situation and ensure passenger safety. Officials have not yet released details regarding the extent of damage or possible casualties.
Authorities said that investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the drones and how they managed to reach the facility. Security protocols at key infrastructure points across the country have reportedly been tightened in response.
The incident comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, following a recent exchange of strikes between Iran and the United States. The broader regional environment has been increasingly unstable, with multiple countries on alert over possible spillover effects.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the drone strike so far, the timing has raised concerns about further escalation in the Gulf region.
Kuwaiti authorities have yet to provide a detailed damage assessment or confirm whether there were any injuries. Officials are continuing to monitor the situation closely as security agencies investigate the attack and reinforce protective measures at critical infrastructure sites.
The situation remains developing as more information is awaited from official sources.
