Lebanon: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has carried out what it described as the “largest coordinated strike” across Lebanon in recent weeks, targeting positions linked to Hezbollah. The strikes reportedly hit multiple locations, including the capital Beirut, as well as areas in the Beqaa Valley and southern Lebanon.
According to Israeli officials, the operation targeted headquarters, command centres, and military infrastructure, aiming to weaken Hezbollah’s operational capabilities.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the strikes were aimed at “hundreds of Hezbollah operatives” in what he described as a significant blow to the group. The IDF maintained that the operation was necessary to safeguard northern Israel from ongoing threats.

Israel also reiterated its stance that Hezbollah’s presence in civilian areas increases risks to the local population, urging Lebanese authorities to act against the group’s activities.
Lebanese officials confirmed that several airstrikes struck densely populated neighborhoods in Beirut, including commercial and residential zones. Panic reportedly spread as explosions were heard across the city.
Haneed Sayed described the strikes as a “very dangerous turning point,” highlighting concerns over civilian safety. While exact casualty figures remain unclear, reports indicate deaths and injuries, with many displaced people already sheltering in affected areas.
The strikes come shortly after a temporary ceasefire agreement involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. However, Israel has clarified that the ceasefire does not extend to Lebanon, where operations against Hezbollah will continue.

Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir stated that the army would continue to use “every operational opportunity” to strike Hezbollah targets, emphasizing the need to protect Israeli citizens.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has called on international allies to intervene and halt the escalating attacks. He warned that continued strikes could further destabilize the region.
With over 1,500 reported fatalities since the escalation began, the situation remains volatile. Analysts caution that sustained attacks could disrupt fragile diplomatic efforts and intensify instability across the Middle East.
