Tehran: Iran has released a rare video featuring Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, marking the first time his voice has reportedly been heard amid ongoing speculation over his health.
The undated footage, shared by Iran’s state-linked Fars news agency, shows Mojtaba attending a religious academic study session. In the video, he is seen listening to a student’s thesis presentation before giving his assessment of the work.
The release comes amid months of uncertainty surrounding Mojtaba Khamenei’s condition. Reports had claimed that he suffered injuries during strikes earlier this year that killed his predecessor and father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Since taking over Iran’s top leadership role, Mojtaba has largely remained away from public appearances, fuelling speculation about his health.
In the newly released footage, Mojtaba is also heard explaining the Iranian regime’s “Islamic Security Model” while interacting with students.
The video has not been independently verified, and the exact date of recording remains unclear.
Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, assumed the position of Iran’s Supreme Leader following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
His limited public presence after the leadership transition had increased global attention over his role in Iran’s political and military decision-making.
