Pakistan-Afghanistan clashes erupt overnight; Several posts destroyed

New Delhi: Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan show no signs of easing. Violent clashes erupted once again between Pakistani security forces and Afghan forces on Tuesday night. This fierce clash occurred on the border between the two countries in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Pakistani army retaliated, reportedly destroying several Afghan tanks and military posts.

In fact, Afghanistan recently attacked Pakistan, causing heavy damage to Pakistani posts. In today’s attack, it is reported that Afghan Taliban fighters fled their positions after the exchange of fire.

Clashes began at 4 a.m.
According to News agency, “The Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij opened fire in Kurram without provocation. The Pakistani army responded with full force and intensity.” The clashes began at 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning, and both light and heavy weapons were used.

A key commander of Fitna al-Khawarij was killed. According to News agency, “another Afghan Taliban checkpoint and tank position” were destroyed in the Kurram sector, followed by reports of a fourth tank position being attacked at the Shamsadar checkpoint. Sources also reported that a key Fitna al-Khawarij commander was killed in the attack. It should be noted that Pakistani officials use the term Fitna al-Khawarij to refer to militants of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
