Pakistan’s Governance System Had ‘Collapsed’: Mohsin Naqvi

Islamabad: Termites have started climbing the chair of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and now the cracks in the power structure are tough to ignore. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi dropped another bombshell. Naqvi is claiming to have unearthed the “biggest scam” in Pakistan’s history; he further said that multiple pillars of the state machinery, ranging from the judiciary to legislation, were part of it. However, he has not revealed the names, but his repeated sensational remarks have intensified speculation about whether Pakistan is heading towards a major power shake-up.

Naqvi is considered a close ally of Pakistan army chief Asim Munir and underlined that action would be taken against “every person” responsible. Naqvi told reporters that, "I don't think there has ever been such a massive scam in the history of Pakistan, where judges, bureaucrats, politicians and bankers were all involved."

He further said, "For 21 years, bribes were paid, and people kept taking it. We will go after every person responsible.” Naqvi has also chaired the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Naqvi’s statement at the Pakistan Economic Summit last week has shocked everyone; he said that Pakistan’s decades-old governance system had “collapsed”.
