Armed Man Arrested Near US President’s California Golf Course (Img: X)
New Delhi: A 38-year-old man has been arrested near US President Donald Trump's California golf course after authorities alleged that he was photographing and recording security preparations around the property ahead of a Republican National Committee (RNC) fundraising event.
The suspect, identified as Jeanine John Taele, was taken into custody at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, where President Trump is expected to attend a fundraising dinner later this week. Investigators said deputies became suspicious after noticing him documenting security measures around the venue.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies recovered a loaded pistol from Taele's vehicle during the arrest. Authorities also found a 16-round magazine loaded with ammunition in his pocket.
The investigation expanded the following day when detectives searched the suspect's residence in Downey. During the search, officers seized multiple firearms, additional magazines, ammunition, body armour and notebooks containing what investigators described as "concerning statements." Officials, however, have not disclosed the contents of the notes or whether they indicated any specific plan.
Taele has been charged with several offences, including second-degree robbery, possession of a large-capacity magazine and possession of a short-barrelled rifle or shotgun. He also faces a misdemeanour charge of carrying a concealed firearm inside a vehicle. Court records show that he has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Authorities further revealed that the suspect had already been under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department in connection with a robbery case before his arrest near Trump's golf course.

Despite the recovery of weapons and the circumstances surrounding the arrest, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said there is "no credible threat to our communities" at this stage.
The incident nevertheless comes amid heightened security surrounding President Trump following previous threats against him, including the attempted assassination at his Florida golf club in 2025. Investigators continue to examine the evidence recovered in the case while determining whether any additional charges are warranted.
