New Delhi: Amid US President Donald Trump's tariff war, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated the need for a multipolar world order during a press conference in China. Putin, after a four-day visit to China, said the growing influence of big economies like India and China cannot be ignored. He also made it clear that the time has come when the unilateral dominance of any one country on global politics or security should end.

Instead, he cited forums like BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) as examples of this multipolarity, where all member countries are equal partners.

A multipolar world means that global decisions are taken jointly by many countries and groups rather than by one country. It is an international system where many powerful nations work together to balance global politics and security. The major players in this multipolar system are India, China, Russia, Brazil and South Africa. India, along with being a fast-growing economy, has strong ties with both the West, Russia and China. China is a big player competing with the US in the economic and technological sector. Russia plays an important role due to its military power and energy resources. Brazil is the largest economy in Latin America, while South Africa holds political and economic leadership in Africa.
