Russia Alleges Large-Scale Drone Attack

Russian authorities have claimed that Ukraine launched a significant drone operation targeting President Putin’s country residence located in the Novgorod region, north of Moscow. As per official statements, nearly 100 long-range drones were involved in the alleged attack.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the incident occurred overnight between Sunday and Monday. He added that Russian air defence systems successfully intercepted the drones, preventing any damage to the residence or surrounding areas. The details were reported by news agency PTI.

Lavrov accused Ukraine of attempting to sabotage diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the conflict. He also warned that Moscow reserves the right to respond to the alleged attack at a time and manner of its choosing.

Impact on Peace Negotiations

The Russian foreign minister further suggested that the incident could influence Moscow’s approach to negotiations with Ukraine. However, he clarified that peace talks would continue, including discussions involving representatives of US President Donald Trump, who is reportedly playing a role in mediation efforts between the two countries.

Lavrov indicated that while diplomatic channels remain open, repeated provocations could complicate the process and affect trust between negotiating parties.

At the same time, Trump acknowledged that the information might not be fully verified, noting that it was possible the attack did not actually take place. His comments highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the incident amid conflicting claims.

The situation continues to draw global attention as world leaders call for restraint and renewed focus on diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation.
