Russia will never win this war: Ukranian Ambassador to India

Ukraine brought its centuries-old cultural heritage to New Delhi through a special Vyshyvanka exhibition, where Ambassador Oleksandr Polishchuk highlighted Ukrainian resilience, India-Ukraine cultural cooperation and the importance of people-to-people connections amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

New Delhi: The Ukraine Embassy organised the exhibition titled, 'Vyshyvanka: Embroidered Stories of Ukraine' in New Delhi showcasing traditional Ukranian embroidery through vyshyvankas, rushnyky, traditional jewellery and photography. Oleksandr Polishchuk, Ukraine's Ambassador to India made a straightforward statement while speaking on the sidelines of the exhibition. Polishchuk said that despite the five years of war with Russia, Ukranians have demonstrated exceptional resilience and added that Russia will never win this war. "Despite the war we are continuing our cultural exchange with India. Ukaraine and Ukaranian citizens have demonstrated resilience despite the war for the last five years. The Russians will never win in this war," said Polishchuk.

Ukraine Showcases Its Cultural Identity in Delhi Amid Ongoing War With Russia

"It is a great pleasure for us and honour to have an exhibition of the Ukranian embroidery which we call Vyshyvanka. It is a traditional embroidery of Ukraine and different patterns of it demonstrates the different parts of Ukaraine. At the same time there is a similar motif in Vyshyvanka which demonstrates our unity. The Ukranians living in India very soon will be recognized by Government of India as the Ukranian community is finalising the process of creation of a foundation," says Polishchuk.

"People to people connect is very important to maintain our long standing cooperation with India. In 2024, during the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Ukraine, we signed one of the agreement about the cultural exchange programme. This exhibition is a part of the implementation process," adds Polishchuk.

The exhibition also displayed items from the Ukrainian community in India and archival photographs from the Ivan Honchar Museum located in Ukaraine's Kiev. The exhibition is presented as part of events marking the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence.

Several people from the city's social circle and several Ukrainian nationals were present at the event.
