Kryvyi Rih: A deadly Russian aerial attack has struck Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, killing at least 14 people and injuring 121 others, including children.
Ukrainian officials said Russian drones targeted a shopping centre in the city as Moscow intensified its air campaign against Ukrainian urban areas.
Rescue operations continued after the strike, with emergency teams searching through damaged structures for survivors.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of carrying out a suspected “double-tap” attack, alleging that a second wave of drones targeted the area while rescue workers were responding to the first strike.
Calling the assault a terrorist act, Zelenskyy said civilian infrastructure was deliberately targeted.
The Kryvyi Rih strike came shortly after a major Russian barrage on Kyiv and nearby regions, where several people were killed and dozens injured.
Ukrainian authorities said thousands of residents took shelter in underground metro stations during the attacks as missiles and drones hit multiple locations.
The strikes damaged residential buildings, schools, hospitals and other civilian facilities.
While Russia continues attacks on Ukrainian cities, Kyiv has increased its long-range drone operations against targets inside Russia.
Ukraine has claimed strikes on Russian energy and military facilities, aiming to disrupt Moscow’s fuel supply and war infrastructure.
The latest wave of attacks highlights the growing intensity of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with both sides relying heavily on drone warfare to target areas far from the frontline.
