Bang Kruai: A shooting incident at a school in Thailand’s Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok, has left seven people dead and 15 inured, including the suspected shooter, according to reports on Friday.
Reports from police sources revealed that a student shot four teachers inside Debsirin Nonthaburi School and killed one teacher and then shot himself.
According to Nonthaburi Provincial Police Commander Lt. Col. Dechrapee Kongdee, the shooter is believed to be a student at the school. There are one teacher and three students among those wounded in the shooting.
The shooting occurred in the Bang Kruai district in the Nonthaburi province, which is situated north of Bangkok.
Ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of the shooting.
An 18-year-old student stated to Reuters that she had first thought that the sound was either firecrackers or someone hitting something.
“I did not think that it was actually a gunshot at first because there were too many shots,” the student added.
Many students could be seen exiting the premises of the institution as ambulance and emergency services rushed to the location. Rescuer images from the spot showed people being rescued outside the institution.
Police have started investigating the motive behind the attack and are examining how the student obtained the weapon.
Authorities are also collecting statements from students, teachers and witnesses to understand the sequence of events leading up to the shooting.
Debsirin Nonthaburi School had around 3,100 students and 147 teachers during the 2025 academic year, according to local district information.
The incident has once again raised concerns over school safety and access to firearms in Thailand.
