New Delhi: According to Trump, he personally engaged in discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. Following these conversations, a consensus was reached regarding a temporary peace between the two nations.

The U.S. Role

Trump noted that several high-ranking U.S. officials were also involved in this process. He has entrusted Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Rezincan with the responsibility of advancing this agreement.

Trump also mentioned that, on Tuesday, representatives from both nations held a meeting in Washington, D.C.—their first such meeting in 34 years. This meeting was facilitated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

What is the Goal?

The primary objective of this entire initiative is not merely to secure a temporary ceasefire, but to pave the way toward a permanent peace agreement. The United States aims to de-escalate the long-standing tensions between Israel and Lebanon.

What Does This Mean?

If this ceasefire holds, it could provide some relief from the ongoing violence and tension along the border between the two countries. However, as this remains an agreement in its preliminary stages, the situation will continue to be closely monitored.
