New Delhi: US President Donald Trump recently made a shocking statement in an interview. He claimed that several countries, including Russia, China, North Korea, and Pakistan, are secretly conducting nuclear weapons tests. Trump's statement is not only a serious concern for international security but also creates an uncomfortable situation for India.

Pakistan Testing Nukes Again? Trump Makes Big Revelation Months After Operation Sindoor
According to Trump, America is an “open society”; therefore, it has to publicly acknowledge every activity. He said that if other countries are continuously conducting tests, then the US should also do so to maintain its security and technological edge.
Trump's revelation could directly impact India's security. Both India and Pakistan are nuclear-armed countries. According to reports, India has approximately 180 nuclear weapons, while Pakistan has around 170.
If Pakistan is secretly conducting new tests, it may possess more powerful and advanced weapons. This could affect India's security balance. India has always followed a “no-first-use policy,” meaning it considers nuclear weapons useful only for defense, not for offensive strategy.

The US last conducted a full-scale nuclear test in 1992. Trump says that if smaller countries like North Korea can continuously conduct tests, then the superpower America should not lag behind.
He said, “Russia is testing, China is testing, and Pakistan is also testing, so why should America lag behind?” Trump believes that testing weapons reliability and pursuing new technological advancements are necessary, especially given Russia's recent testing of advanced nuclear systems like the Poseidon underwater drone.
