Trump predicts swift Iran war end, oil prices falling (Img: X)
Washington: US President Donald Trump has said that the war with Iran would end “very quickly”. He also predicted a steep fall in oil prices once hostilities come to an end.
Speaking to reporters after arriving in Texas, Trump said Iran faced a decisive choice over how the conflict would conclude.
“Iran will very soon be ending one way or the other,” Trump told reporters.
“It’ll either just say, look, they have 301 per cent inflation. They have no money, they have no currency. Their military has been defeated, their navy is gone, their air force is gone, everything's gone,” he added.
“And, one way or the other, it’s going to end very quickly. And when that ends, oil prices are going to drop like a rock,” he said.
Without identifying the country, Trump also said that Washington could consider asking a European country to release diesel reserves to help ease energy costs.
“Well, we may do that. They have some diesel, but the prices are coming down. All prices are coming down,” he noted.

While acknowledging that crude prices remained relatively high, Trump said they were still below the levels seen during former President Joe Biden’s tenure.
“The one thing we have is oil is a little high, but oil is much lower than it was for Biden,” he said. “And we did something that Biden didn't do. Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”
During his visit to Peterbilt facility, Trump again connected the conclusion of the conflict with a potential decline in oil prices. He said the US had maintained petroleum shipments despite the war and restrictions involving the Strait of Hormuz.
“And when that happens, when that ends, which will be very soon, one way or the other, it’s going to end, either they’ll do something very proper and smart or they won’t be around very long,” Trump said.
“So one way or the other, it’s going to be over. And when it’s over, oil is going to go like that. In the meantime, prices have come way down, oil prices,” he added.
Trump also addressed questions about Tehran’s possible involvement in what a journalist described as an unsuccessful terror plot connected to RAF Fairford in the UK.
“I can't say that with confirmation, but it’s looking like that,” Trump stated when asked about potential Iranian links.
During his Texas visit, Trump also spoke about the US economy and argued that his administration has not received sufficient recognition for its economic performance.
“We have great numbers we're doing a great job of management,” Trump stated, pointing to equity markets, pension funds and investment in new industrial facilities.
Trump said his administration needed to communicate its economic record more effectively.
