Washington DC: US President Donald Trump on Saturday wrote a letter to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) member countries, in which he suggested imposing tariffs of 50 to 100 percent on China to end the Russia-Ukraine war. He has said that these tariffs will be completely removed after the war ends.

Strict Sanctions On Russia Possible Only

Trump said in the letter that he is ready to impose major sanctions on Russia, but this will be possible only when all NATO countries unite on this and completely stop buying oil from Russia. He criticized the policy of NATO countries, in which some member countries are still buying Russian oil, which is weakening the sanctions against Russia.

Importance Of Imposing Tariffs On China

Trump also said that China has strong control over Russia and that is why this grip can be weakened by imposing strict tariffs on China. He believes that if NATO as a group imposes tariffs on China, it will prove helpful in ending the Russia-Ukraine war. He also clarified that these tariffs will be removed after the war is over.

Trump also said that this is not his war and if he were the president that time, this war would never have started. He called it a war between former President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He also said that he only wants to help stop this war so that thousands of lives can be saved.

Heavy Casualties In War

Trump also shared the fact in the letter that 7,118 people have died in this war in the last week alone. He called it madness and stressed the need to end the war immediately.

This letter of Donald Trump can bring a new turn in global politics regarding the Russia-Ukraine war. He has appealed to NATO member countries to take united steps to end the war, in which imposing tariffs on China has emerged as an important strategy. This proposal can have a significant impact on the future of the war and international relations. The reaction of NATO countries to this is yet to be seen.
