Washington DC: The United States has carried out deadly airstrikes on ISIS (Islamic State) targets in Nigeria. The military operation was confirmed by US President Donald Trump himself. He stated that the operation was carried out by the US military under his direct orders. The attacks took place in northwestern Nigeria, where ISIS-affiliated terrorist groups have reportedly been active for a long time.

Trump's Statement on Social Media

President Trump shared information about the operation on his social media platform, Truth Social. He wrote that the US military precisely targeted ISIS strongholds. Trump said that this operation demonstrates America's military strength and its commitment against terrorism.

Accusations of Targeting Christians

Trump leveled serious accusations against the ISIS terrorists, stating that the terrorist group was targeting and killing innocent Christians in the region. According to him, the level of this violence had not been seen in many years, even centuries. The president said that this religiously motivated violence cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

Previous Warning Issued

In his statement, the US president said that he had previously warned these terrorists. According to Trump, he had clearly stated that if the killing of Christians did not stop, the US would take strong action. He wrote, "I warned that if the slaughter continued, there would be serious consequences, and that's what happened tonight."

US Military's 'Perfect Strike'

Trump called the operation a "perfect strike" by the US military. He said that the US Department of Defense carried out extremely precise airstrikes, destroying several terrorist strongholds. Trump claimed that only the United States possesses this kind of military capability.

Strong Message Against Terrorism

This action is being seen as a strong message from the US against terrorism. Trump said that under his leadership, the US will not allow radical terrorism to flourish. He reiterated that the US will not hesitate to take action in any part of the world to protect its citizens and innocent people. ‘Merry Christmas to Terrorists’ Statement

Trump's statement drew attention when he concluded his message by saying, “God bless our troops and Merry Christmas to everyone — even the dead terrorists.” This comment has elicited mixed reactions internationally.

Action Taken at the Request of Nigerian Authorities

Meanwhile, the U.S. Africa Command (US AFRICOM) stated that the military operation was conducted at the request of Nigerian authorities. According to AFRICOM, the operation against ISIS in the Sokoto region was carried out in cooperation with local security forces to curb the growing terrorist activity in the area.
