US rescues missing F-15 pilot after jet was shot down in Iran
New Delhi: A tense and high-stakes rescue mission unfolded after a US F-15 fighter jet crashed deep inside Iran, triggering confusion, suspicion, and ultimately a dramatic recovery operation. What initially seemed like a possible enemy deception turned out to be a crucial clue that helped save a pilot’s life.
In an interview with Axios, former US President Donald Trump revealed that the US military had been tracking faint, intermittent signals from the downed aircraft’s crew. Amid the uncertainty, a short radio message was intercepted-just three words: “God’s power.”
The phrase immediately raised alarm among some officials, who feared it might be a coded message or even part of an Iranian trap. Given the crash occurred within hostile territory, there was concern the pilot could have been captured and that Iran might be attempting to mislead US forces.
However, further clarification from defense officials revealed the actual message was slightly different: “God is good.” This shifted the narrative. Investigators soon learned that the pilot was known to be deeply religious, making the message consistent with his personal beliefs rather than an external manipulation.
As intelligence teams worked to verify his status, it became clear that the pilot-identified as a Weapon Systems Officer-had survived the crash and was evading capture. Despite injuries, he remained hidden in rugged mountainous terrain for more than 24 hours, avoiding detection by Iranian forces.
According to Trump, the aircraft had been brought down by a shoulder-fired missile. He described the surviving crew member as “incredibly lucky” given the circumstances.
The rescue operation that followed was both swift and highly risky. US Special Forces were deployed deep into Iranian territory in what has been described as one of the boldest search-and-rescue missions in recent history. Reports suggest that elite commandos, including members of the Navy’s SEAL Team Six, carried out the extraction while US fighter jets provided air cover, preventing potential interference from Iranian ground units.
The mission concluded successfully, with the pilot safely recovered-a result owed in part to a misunderstood message that, once decoded, became a signal of hope rather than a sign of danger.
