Tehran: Iran has rejected a peace overture from the United States, asserting that any end to the ongoing conflict will happen strictly on its “own terms and timeline,” according to a senior political-security official.

Speaking to state broadcaster Press TV, the official said Tehran remains firm in its stance and will continue military actions until its conditions are met. The response comes amid reports that Washington has been attempting backchannel negotiations through regional intermediaries.

Iran has dismissed the US proposal as “deceptive” and “disconnected from battlefield realities,” claiming it is an attempt to escalate tensions rather than genuinely resolve the conflict.

The official outlined five key conditions for ending the war:

• A complete halt to what Iran described as “aggression and assassinations”
• Concrete guarantees to prevent the resumption of hostilities
• Assured payment of war damages and reparations
• A comprehensive end to the conflict across all regional fronts and allied groups
• International recognition of Iran’s sovereign authority over the Strait of Hormuz

Tehran’s response signals a hardening position as tensions in West Asia continue to escalate, with little indication of an immediate diplomatic breakthrough.

The official also told Press TV that these stipulations are in addition to demands previously presented by Tehran during the second round of negotiations in Geneva, which took place just days before the US and Israel carried out strikes on February 28."No negotiations will be held prior to that," the official stressed, reiterating that the continuation of Iran's defensive operations will persist until the outlined conditions are met.
