New Delhi: A senior adviser to the UAE leadership has warned Iran against escalating tensions in the Gulf, saying that continued aggression toward neighbouring states could deepen regional instability and isolate Tehran diplomatically.

Anwar Gargash, the Presidential Diplomatic Adviser to the United Arab Emirates Government, criticised Iran’s recent actions in a post on social media, urging the country to act responsibly and reconsider its approach toward regional neighbours.

In a strongly worded message, Gargash said Iran’s aggression against Gulf states had “missed its target” and risked reinforcing global perceptions that Tehran’s missile programme poses a continuing threat to regional stability.

He warned that escalation against neighbouring countries could strengthen the narrative that Iran remains a primary source of insecurity in the Middle East.

Calling for restraint, Gargash urged Iranian leaders to “return to reason and responsibility” and engage with neighbouring states in a constructive manner before tensions spiral further.

Missile Interceptions Raise Security Concerns

The warning comes as the United Arab Emirates finds itself increasingly drawn into the widening regional crisis following recent hostilities involving Iran.

Reports indicate that Iranian missiles and drones were intercepted over UAE territory, triggering explosions and security alerts in major cities including Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Authorities said the country’s air-defence systems successfully intercepted many incoming projectiles. However, falling debris caused minor damage and injuries in some areas, leading officials to tighten security measures and temporarily shut down parts of the airspace.

Critical infrastructure, including Dubai International Airport and nearby landmarks such as the Burj Al Arab, also experienced disruptions during the alerts.

UAE’s Strategic Role in the Regional Crisis

Analysts say the UAE’s strategic importance in the Gulf has placed it at the centre of the escalating confrontation. As a major global economic hub and a key host of American military infrastructure, any security incident within its territory carries wider geopolitical and economic implications.

Disruptions in the UAE can affect international aviation, global markets, and regional stability, making the country a significant pressure point in the ongoing Middle East crisis.

With tensions continuing to rise, regional leaders and global powers are closely monitoring developments, amid growing calls for diplomacy and restraint to prevent the conflict from widening further.
