J&K: Terrorist search operation by Army in Kishtwar continues for 2nd day

The two dreaded terrorists are perhaps hiding inside a cave on a cliff in Bhagna forest in Dool area which is about 25 km from Kishtwar. It is reported that the terrorists opened fire on the search parties on Sunday morning and then fled deep into the forest after retaliation by the Army, officials said.

Kishtwar: The Army on Monday continued its anti-terror operation in the forest area of Kishtwar. The operation began yesterday on Sunday after the intelligence input about the two most wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists—Riyaz Ahmad and Mudassar Hazari—who carry a reward of Rs 10 Lakh each, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Fire By Terrorists

It is reported that the terrorists opened fire on the search parties on Sunday morning and then fled deep into the forest after retaliation by the Army, officials said.

Militants Were Hiding In Cave

About 25 kilo meters from Kishtwar town in the Bhagna forest in the Dool area the militants are thought to be hiding in a cave that was constructed on a rock according to the officials. Riyaz Ahmed and Mudassar Hazari two of the most wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were discovered in the forest area prompting the start of a search operation early on Sunday August 10. The terrorists who have been operating in the district for the past eight years are paid between Rs 10 and Rs 10 lakh each.

Officials Statement

According to officials the hiding militants fired on the search parties on Sunday August 10 at around 6:30 am and then fled into the forest after retaliating. According to him there were two more firing rounds throughout the day. They said that in order to prevent the terrorists from escaping more forces such as the Armys paracommandos police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been brought in the cordon has been reinforced with the use of drones and search operations have been stepped up.

Explosions And Gunfire Throughout Night

Security forces believe the militants are hiding inside the cave which is said to be very deep. The last reports of militant firing were received on Sunday night near the cave according to officials. Throughout the night there were numerous strong explosions and sporadic gunfire according to the officials. According to him a search is in progress. Were also awaiting more information.
