Bihar: Govt announces hike in rural health workers incentives ahead of Assembly polls

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a substantial hike of Rs2000 in incentive for ASHA workers in the state. They will now get Rs3000 per month instead of the existing amount of Rs1000, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

At the same time Chief Minister has also doubled the incentive of “Mamta” health workers from Rs300 per delivery to Rs600.

CM Nitish Kumar took to social media X to announce the increase incentives. He wrote that since Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and ‘Mamta’ workers have played a significant role in enhancing health services in rural areas, these addition to their incentives is a recognition of their services.

In a post on X, Nitish Kumar said, “Since the formation of the government in November 2005, we have worked extensively to improve health services. Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and ‘Mamta’ workers have played a significant role in enhancing health services in rural areas.”ASHA workers will now be provided with “an incentive amount of ₹3,000 instead of ₹1,000”, he said.

After the honorarium increase, the self-confidence and work capacity of ASHA and Mamta workers will increase. They will be able to discharge their duties with full honesty and integrity, the common people living in remote rural areas will get the benefit of this.
