Rahul Gandhi on Maha Vikas Aghadi's election loss
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has made serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the assembly elections held in Maharashtra in November 2024, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
He says that the BJP won the election through "match-fixing" and conspired to weaken the Indian democracy. He made these allegations in his article published in the Indian Express and social media posts.
According to Rahul Gandhi, the 'Mahayuti' alliance of BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) won 235 out of 288 seats, with the BJP alone winning 132 seats—its best-ever performance in the state.
In his article, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) influenced the election process under a five-phase plan. He wrote:
1. The Election Commission's selection committee was tampered with.
2. Fake names were added to the voter list.
3. The voting figures were deliberately increased.
4. Fake votes were cast where the BJP needed to win.
5. And the evidence of this was hidden.
The 2024 results gave the BJP a big victory, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), formed by the Congress, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar's NCP (SP), could win only 50 seats. This result was a big blow to both Thackeray and Pawar, as they had already lost their original parties and election symbols.
Rahul Gandhi also said that this is not a simple mess but a well-planned electoral manipulation. Targeting the central government, he said that in 2023, the selection process of the Election Commission was changed to include a Union Minister in place of the Chief Justice, which raises questions on the impartiality of the commission.
He wrote, "When someone removes an impartial person and brings in a minister, this in itself is the answer as to why impartiality has ended. "The BJP has completely rejected these allegations of Rahul Gandhi. Party spokesperson Tuhin Sinha said in a statement that Rahul Gandhi is repeatedly defaming the institutions of the country.
He said that the Election Commission has already denied these allegations and this statement is completely shameful. Stay tuned to Dynamite News for further updates.
