Weather Update: Rain, thunderstorms expected in Mumbai; Yellow alert issued

Mumbai: The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding possible rain and thunderstorms in Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai.

The regional Meteorological Department has attributed this to the conditions affecting the region and weak southwest monsoon winds.

It is worth noting that heavy rains occurred at many places in Mumbai on Friday, while other parts of Maharashtra remained cloudy. There was no significant increase in temperature, but the atmosphere remained humid and uncomfortable due to humidity and intermittent rain.

According to meteorologists, this kind of situation will continue till the weekend. There are chances of light to moderate rain and thundershowers. Moderate rain has occurred here since the onset of monsoon. In the last six days, 30 mm of rain was recorded in Colaba and 47.1 mm in Santacruz. Despite temperatures being slightly below average – Colaba recorded 32.2 degrees Celsius and Santacruz 31.7 degrees Celsius.

High humidity made people feel hot. Santacruz received 14 mm of rain on Friday, while Colaba did not receive any rain. Similar weather is forecast for Jalgaon, Nashik, Pune and Nagpur districts, where thunderstorms are expected at isolated places. Similar weather conditions prevail from central Maharashtra to coastal Andhra Pradesh, as well as parts of Karnataka and Telangana.
