The explosion took place around midday in the Mankey area near Jaraikela, deep within the Saranda forest—one of Asia’s densest jungles—while the troops were conducting a combing operation, a police official stated.

The injured soldiers, both from the CRPF’s elite CoBRA unit, were evacuated via air to Ranchi for advanced medical care, the officer confirmed. Security forces have intensified search operations in the region following the attack.
